A metaverse is a virtual space, that converges the physical reality with the virtual. The term was first used by science fiction writer Neal Stephenson in 1992, for the 3D metaphor of the real world in his novel Snow Crash. Upland is also a metaverse, as it is a virtual world build on top of the real world map.
